Of Arrernte, Arabana, and Gurindji descent, he is the first openly gay Indigenous parliamentarian in Australia. Throughout his career, he has held various ministerial portfolios, including Attorney General, and has been a vocal advocate for justice reform, remote housing, and the protection of sacred sites.
