Chao Wu

Chao Wu is an American politician currently serving as a member of the Maryland House of Delegates, representing District 9A since 2023. Born in Yingshan County, China, he moved to the United States in 2003 and later became a U.S. citizen. Before his election to the state legislature, he served on the Howard County Board of Education from 2018 to 2022, where he became the first Asian American to lead the board as chairperson. His professional background includes work as an electrical engineer and aviation software engineer. In the Maryland House, he serves on the Ways and Means Committee and has been a deputy majority whip since 2026, focusing on issues such as artificial intelligence regulation and education policy.
