Chris Stearns is an American politician serving as a member of the Washington House of Representatives for the 47th district. A member of the Navajo Nation, he previously served on the Auburn City Council, becoming the first tribal member to hold that position. His extensive career includes serving as the director of Indian affairs for the U.S. Department of Energy under President Bill Clinton, chair of the Washington State Gambling Commission, and president of the Seattle Indian Health Board. He holds a Juris Doctor from Cornell Law School.
