Damiano Tommasi

Damiano Tommasi is an Italian politician and former professional footballer who has served as the Mayor of Verona since June 2022. Before entering politics, he enjoyed a distinguished career as a midfielder, most notably playing for AS Roma, where he won the Serie A title in 2001, and representing the Italian national team at the 2002 FIFA World Cup. Following his retirement from professional sports, he served as the president of the Italian Footballers' Association (AIC) from 2011 to 2020. Tommasi was elected mayor as an independent candidate supported by a center-left coalition, focusing his platform on civic engagement and social development.
