Daniel M. Swanson is an American politician serving as a member of the Illinois House of Representatives, representing the 71st district since 2017. A veteran of the United States Army and the Illinois Army National Guard, he attained the rank of Lieutenant Colonel and served in Operation Iraqi Freedom. Before his legislative career, he served on the AlWood Community District #225 Board of Education and the Henry County Board. In the 103rd General Assembly, he was appointed to serve as the chairman of the House Committee on Veterans' Affairs.
