Darlene Compton

Darlene Compton is a Canadian politician serving as a member of the Legislative Assembly of Prince Edward Island for the district of Belfast-Murray River. A member of the Progressive Conservative Party, she was first elected in 2015 and has held several high-profile positions, including serving as the Deputy Premier, Minister of Finance, and Minister of the Status of Women from 2019 to 2023. Additionally, she served as the 33rd Speaker of the Legislative Assembly from 2023 to 2025. Before her successful tenure in provincial politics, she was a candidate in the 2007 by-election and the 2011 provincial election, and she also contested the party's leadership in 2015.
