David Butau

Profile

David Butau is a Zimbabwean politician and former member of parliament representing Guruve North. He served as the chairman of the parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Budget and Finance and was known for his outspoken criticisms of government economic policies and the implementation of land reform under the Mugabe administration. In late 2007, he faced currency-related charges and fled to the United Kingdom before returning to Zimbabwe to stand trial, where he was subsequently acquitted of all charges in 2009.
