David Sokola

David Sokola is an American politician who has served as a member of the Delaware Senate since 1991, representing District 8. A member of the Democratic Party, he has held the position of President Pro Tempore of the Senate since 2021. Throughout his long tenure, Sokola has been a prominent advocate for education reform, notably sponsoring the Charter School Act of 1995. His legislative record also includes strong support for LGBTQ+ rights, including the legalization of same-sex marriage in Delaware, as well as efforts to advance gun safety legislation. He currently chairs the Senate Executive Committee and the Joint Legislative Council Committee.
