Dmitry Chernyshenko

Dmitry Chernyshenko is a Russian politician and businessman currently serving as the Deputy Prime Minister of Russia for Tourism, Sport, Culture, and Communications, a position he has held since 2020. Previously, he gained prominence as the President of the Sochi 2014 Olympic Organizing Committee and later served as the President of the Kontinental Hockey League and Board Chairman of Gazprom-Media. Throughout his career, he has been a vocal proponent of Russian state interests in international sports, frequently criticizing Western sanctions and the exclusion of Russian athletes from global competitions. He has been subject to international sanctions by the European Union, the United Kingdom, the United States, and Japan in response to the Russo-Ukrainian War.
