Doreen Lawrence, Baroness Lawrence of Clarendon, is a British-Jamaican campaigner and a life peer in the House of Lords. Following the 1993 racist murder of her son, Stephen Lawrence, she became a prominent advocate for police reform and social justice, successfully campaigning for the landmark Macpherson Report which identified institutional racism within the Metropolitan Police. Appointed as an OBE in 2003 for her services to community relations, she was elevated to the peerage in 2013 and sits on the Labour benches. She has served as a race relations advisor to the Labour Party and continues to work extensively with human rights organizations and charitable trusts to promote equality and community legacy.
