Douglas Allen Collins is an American politician and government official currently serving as the 12th United States Secretary of Veterans Affairs. A member of the Republican Party, he previously represented Georgia's 9th congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives from 2013 to 2021 and served in the Georgia House of Representatives from 2007 to 2013. A chaplain in the U.S. Air Force Reserve, Collins is known for his conservative political stances, including opposition to abortion and the Affordable Care Act, and his vocal support for Donald Trump during his presidency. He assumed his current cabinet position in February 2025 following Senate confirmation.
