Edna Jackson is an American politician currently serving as a member of the Georgia House of Representatives for District 165. A long-time public servant, she made history in 2012 by becoming the first African-American woman to serve as the mayor of Savannah, Georgia. Prior to her mayoral tenure, she held positions on the Savannah City Council and worked for decades at Savannah State University. Her career began in social work and community activism, notably through her early involvement with the NAACP Youth Council.
