Elaine Murphy, Baroness Murphy

Elaine Murphy, Baroness Murphy is a British psychiatrist, academic, and crossbench member of the House of Lords. After a distinguished medical career, she became the first professor of psychiatry of old age in the UK at the University of London. She has held various leadership roles within the National Health Service and the Mental Health Act Commission. Appointed a life peer in 2004, she focuses her parliamentary work on mental health and ageing issues. She is also a prolific author of medical and historical texts.
