Fabiola Campillai

Fabiola Campillai is a Chilean politician, activist, and Senator representing the Santiago Metropolitan Region. She became a national and international symbol of victims of police brutality after losing her sight, smell, and taste when she was struck in the face by a tear-gas canister fired by police during the 2019 social protests in Chile. Running as an independent candidate in the 2021 parliamentary elections, she achieved the highest majority in her constituency and took office as a senator in March 2022.
