Femke Halsema

Femke Halsema is a Dutch politician and filmmaker currently serving as the Mayor of Amsterdam, a position she has held since 2018. She is the first woman to hold this office on a non-interim basis and is a member of the green party GroenLinks. Previously, she served as a member of the House of Representatives from 1998 to 2011, where she acted as the parliamentary leader of her party for eight years. Known for her focus on social justice, migration, and constitutional reform, Halsema transitioned from a career in research and journalism to become a prominent figure in Dutch national politics before assuming her current municipal leadership role.
