Fred Veenstra

Fred Veenstra is a Dutch politician and jurist who has served as the Mayor of Smallingerland since November 19, 2024. A member of the Christian Democratic Appeal (CDA), he previously held mayoral positions in Franekeradeel from 2010 to 2015 and De Friese Meren from 2015 to 2024. Before his mayoral career, he worked as a legal consultant and served as a municipal councilor in Enschede and an alderman in Smallingerland. He holds a degree in constitutional and administrative law from the University of Groningen.
