Fumio Tanaka is a Japanese politician currently serving as the Mayor of Hagi, Yamaguchi Prefecture. Born in 1948, he previously served seven terms as a member of the Yamaguchi Prefectural Assembly. Before entering politics, he worked as a construction company president. Tanaka entered the political arena following in the footsteps of his father and his brother, Takeo Kawamura. He was first elected as Mayor of Hagi in 2021 and secured re-election in 2025, focusing his administration on regional development and tourism promotion.
