Having previously served in parliament during the 5th and 8th parliamentary terms, he was re-elected in the 2026 13th national parliamentary election. Originally associated with Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, he was expelled from the party in July 2026 following controversies related to moral turpitude.
