Yoshifumi Hamano is a Japanese politician and former labor union leader currently serving as a member of the House of Councillors. Born in Takasago, Hyogo Prefecture, he graduated from Kobe University and began his career at Kansai Electric Power, where he became deeply involved in the labor movement, eventually serving as a representative for the Federation of Electric Power Related Industry Workers' Unions of Japan. First elected to the House of Councillors in 2013, he has since been re-elected multiple times. Throughout his political career, he has focused on energy policy, advocating for the stable development of the electric power industry and energy security. He currently serves as the inaugural Chairman of the General Affairs Committee for the Democratic Party for the People.
