Hani Sewilam

Hani Sewilam is an Egyptian academic and politician currently serving as the Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation of Egypt, a position he has held since August 2022. An expert in hydrology and sustainable development, he previously held academic leadership roles at RWTH Aachen University in Germany and the American University in Cairo. He is recognized for his research on water management, solar-powered desalination, and sustainable agriculture. In 2023, he was elected president of the African Ministers’ Council on Water.
