Harriet Shing

Harriet Shing is an Australian politician serving as a member of the Victorian Legislative Council for the Eastern Victoria Region, a position she has held since 2014. A member of the Labor Party's Left faction, she made history as the first openly lesbian member of the Parliament of Victoria. In June 2022, she was appointed to the cabinet, becoming the first Victorian minister of Chinese descent. As of April 2026, she serves as the Minister for Health, Minister for Ambulance Services, and Minister for Water.
