Harry Bhandari is an American politician and educator who has served as a member of the Maryland House of Delegates since 2019, representing the 8th district. Born in Nepal, he became the first Nepali American elected to a state legislature in the United States. A member of the Democratic Party, Bhandari has focused his legislative work on healthcare, education, and gun control, notably introducing the Sagar Ghimire Act and legislation to recognize the festival of Dashain. He holds a PhD from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, and previously worked as a teacher for Baltimore County Public Schools.
