Hermeline Malherbe-Laurent

Hermeline Malherbe-Laurent is a French politician who has served as the President of the Departmental Council of Pyrénées-Orientales since 2010. Born in Carvin, she began her political career in Seine-et-Marne before moving to the Pyrénées-Orientales region. A member of the Socialist Party, she previously served as a Senator for the department from 2014 to 2017, succeeding Christian Bourquin. Throughout her career, she has held various regional and local mandates, including roles in the Languedoc-Roussillon regional council and municipal government. She is known for her focus on regional development and local identity, and she was appointed a Knight of the Legion of Honour in 2020.
