Hiroshi Gokon is a Japanese politician currently serving as the Mayor of Oshu, Iwate Prefecture. Born in 1965 in the former Mizusawa City, he initially worked as a confectioner before entering politics. He served as a member of the Mizusawa City Council, the Oshu City Council, and the Iwate Prefectural Assembly for five terms. Throughout his career, he has been associated with various political groups, including the Democratic Party of Japan and the Constitutional Democratic Party, before running as an independent in the 2026 Oshu mayoral election, where he successfully defeated the incumbent.
