Hiroyuki Kato is a Japanese politician currently serving as the Mayor of Agano City in Niigata Prefecture. Born in 1957 in what was then Mizuhara Town, he graduated from the Azabu University School of Veterinary Medicine and worked as a veterinarian, eventually serving as the head of the livestock department at the JA Zen-Noh Niigata headquarters. He entered politics in 2020, winning a seat on the Agano City Council as an independent. In April 2024, he was elected as the Mayor of Agano City, where his platform has focused on agricultural development and organizational reform within the municipal government.
