岩井均

Hitoshi Iwai is a Japanese politician currently serving as the Mayor of Annaka in Gunma Prefecture. Born in 1964 in Matsuida-machi (now part of Annaka), he graduated from the University of Tsukuba and its graduate school. Before his mayoral career, he worked as a secretary for former Prime Minister Yasuhiro Nakasone for ten years. He subsequently served six terms as a member of the Gunma Prefectural Assembly, where he also held the position of the 89th Prefectural Assembly Chairman. In 2022, he was elected as the Mayor of Annaka, defeating the incumbent candidate.
