Akiko Honda is a Japanese politician and pharmacist serving as a member of the House of Councillors. A graduate of Hoshi University, she worked in the pharmaceutical industry and as a public secretary before entering national politics. She was first elected to the House of Councillors in 2019 representing the Liberal Democratic Party and has since served in various government roles, including Parliamentary Vice-Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare and Parliamentary Vice-Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology. Currently, she serves as the Chair of the Committee on Health, Labour and Welfare in the House of Councillors. Honda is known for her advocacy regarding the status of pharmacists and has held leadership positions within the Liberal Democratic Party, including Director of the Women's Affairs Division.
