Hsiao Yeh

Li Yuan, also known by his pen name Hsiao Yeh, is a Taiwanese novelist, screenwriter, and politician currently serving as the Minister of Culture since 2024. Born in Taipei in 1951, he established a prominent career in the arts, winning multiple Golden Horse Awards for his screenwriting and serving as a general manager for Chinese Television System. A long-time activist, he has been involved in various social movements, including anti-nuclear advocacy and the Sunflower Student Movement. He holds no party affiliation and was appointed to the cabinet by Premier Cho Jung-tai to lead the Ministry of Culture.
