Huw Thomas is a Welsh politician serving as a Member of the Senedd for Caerdydd Penarth since May 2026. Born in Aberystwyth in 1985, he previously served as the leader of Cardiff Council from 2017 to 2026 and as a councillor for the Splott ward starting in 2012. During his time as council leader, he prioritized major infrastructure projects including the Cardiff Bus Interchange and the redevelopment of Central Square. Before entering politics, Thomas worked in the third sector, including roles with Sustrans and as Head of Christian Aid Wales. He holds degrees from Oxford University and Aberystwyth University.
