Sir Iain Duncan Smith is a British politician who has served as the Member of Parliament for Chingford and Woodford Green since 1992. A prominent figure in the Conservative Party, he served as Leader of the Opposition from 2001 to 2003 and later held the position of Secretary of State for Work and Pensions from 2010 to 2016. During his time in government, he was a key architect of the Universal Credit welfare reform program. Before entering politics, he served in the Scots Guards. He is known for his Eurosceptic views and his work with the Centre for Social Justice, a think tank he founded to address poverty and social breakdown.
