Ibrahim Traoré

Ibrahim Traoré is a Burkinabè military officer and statesman who has served as the President of Burkina Faso since September 2022. He rose to power following a coup d'état against Paul-Henri Sandaogo Damiba, subsequently leading the Patriotic Movement for Safeguard and Restoration. A career soldier who previously specialized in artillery, Traoré has focused his administration on anti-terrorism efforts, national sovereignty, and a shift toward new international partnerships, including Russia. He is known for his anti-imperialist rhetoric and his rejection of Western-style democratic models in favor of a revolutionary approach to governance.
