Igor Taro is an Estonian politician and journalist currently serving as the Minister of the Interior. Born in Võru, he studied journalism at Moscow State University and built a career in media, working as a correspondent for Õhtuleht and Estonian Public Broadcasting. He transitioned into public service as the County Governor of Põlva from 2016 to 2017 and later served as a member of the Põlva municipal council. In 2023, he was elected to the Riigikogu representing the Estonia 200 party before assuming his current ministerial role.
