Ikuo Kato is a Japanese politician currently serving his fifth term as the Mayor of Fussa, Tokyo. Born in Fussa in 1954, he graduated from Waseda University before working at Nippon Kokan (now JFE Steel) and later managing his family's soba restaurant. He began his political career as a member of the Fussa City Council, serving two terms from 2003 to 2008. Since his election as mayor in 2008, he has focused on local governance, including disaster prevention and measures to address the declining birthrate.
