久保田郁夫

Ikuo Kubota is a Japanese politician currently serving as the Mayor of Itoigawa City in Niigata Prefecture. Born in 1958, he graduated from the Juntendo University Faculty of Health and Sports Science in 1980. Before entering politics, he had a long career as a high school teacher and later served as the principal of Niigata Prefectural Marine High School. He also held positions in industry-academia-government promotion and served as a visiting professor at the Niigata University of Food and Agriculture. After an unsuccessful bid for mayor in 2021, he was elected as the Mayor of Itoigawa in April 2025 as an independent candidate, defeating two other opponents.
