Imelda Daza Cotes is a Colombian-Swedish economist, teacher, and politician currently serving as a Senator of Colombia. A long-time activist, she was elected to the Valledupar city council in 1986 before being forced into exile in Sweden due to political violence. After returning to Colombia in 2015, she became a prominent figure in the implementation of the peace agreement, serving as a spokesperson for Voices of Peace and Reconciliation. She was elected to the Senate in 2022 representing the Commons party, continuing her focus on social justice and regional development.
