Ionel Ciunt

Ionel Ciunt is a Romanian politician currently serving as the Mayor of Zalău, a position he has held since 2016. A member of the Social Democratic Party (PSD), he previously served as the Prefect of Sălaj County. Throughout his mayoral tenure, Ciunt has focused on urban development, infrastructure improvements, and the modernization of the municipality, including initiatives to integrate Zalău into the European digital economy through the establishment of local innovation hubs. He is also active in the Association of Municipalities in Romania, where he serves as a vice president.
