Irena Šinko

Irena Šinko is a Slovenian lawyer, agricultural engineer, and former government official who served as the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Food of the Republic of Slovenia from June 2022 until her dismissal in October 2023. Educated at the University of Ljubljana and the University of Maribor, she previously worked as a technologist, headed the department of Agriculture and Economy in Murska Sobota, and directed the state fund for Agricultural and Forest Land. Her tenure as minister ended following a disagreement with Prime Minister Robert Golob regarding pesticide contamination disclosures and nutria trapping policies.
