Isato Kunisada

Isato Kunisada is a Japanese politician and former bureaucrat currently serving as a member of the House of Representatives. Born in Tokyo, he graduated from Hitotsubashi University and began his career at the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications (now the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications). He served as the mayor of Sanjo City, Niigata Prefecture, for four terms starting in 2006, where he gained recognition for his disaster management efforts following heavy rainfall. After entering national politics, he was elected to the House of Representatives and has held various government positions, including Parliamentary Vice-Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism. Politically, he supports constitutional revision, including the explicit mention of the Self-Defense Forces in Article 9, and has taken a cautious stance on issues such as selective separate surnames for married couples.
