Masataka Ishihara is a Japanese politician currently serving as a member of the House of Representatives for the Mie 3rd district. He previously served as the mayor of Komono, Mie Prefecture, for three terms, and as a member of the Mie Prefectural Assembly. After graduating from Nagoya University, he worked in academia as a researcher and lecturer. Ishihara was first elected to the national Diet in 2021 via the proportional representation block and secured his first single-seat constituency victory in the 2026 general election. His political career has been marked by his involvement with the Liberal Democratic Party and his affiliation with various conservative policy groups.
