Taketoyo Toguchi is a Japanese politician currently serving as the Mayor of Nago City in Okinawa Prefecture. Born in Nago, he graduated from the Daiichi University of Economics and worked in the insurance and jewelry sectors before entering politics. He served five terms as a member of the Nago City Council starting in 1998. First elected mayor in 2018 with the support of the Liberal Democratic Party and Komeito, he has focused on utilizing government subsidies related to the realignment of U.S. forces in Japan to fund local initiatives such as free school lunches and childcare. He was re-elected in 2022 and secured a third term in 2026.
