Hiroki Iwanaga is a Japanese politician currently serving his third term as the Mayor of Koka City in Shiga Prefecture. Born in 1973, he studied international politics at Wichita State University in the United States before returning to Japan to work in advertising and later as a secretary to his father, former Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Mineichi Iwanaga. He was elected to the House of Representatives in 2012 as a member of the Japan Restoration Party, serving one term until 2014. In 2016, he was elected Mayor of Koka and has since been re-elected to the position. His tenure has been marked by administrative challenges, including the management of a local election ballot-tampering scandal and controversies regarding political funding disclosures.
