Issei Shinohara is a Japanese politician currently serving as the Mayor of Iki City in Nagasaki Prefecture. Born in Iki in 1977, he graduated from Seinan Gakuin University before beginning a long career as a local government official in the former Gonoura Town and later Iki City. Throughout his career, he held various administrative roles, including policy planning and regional development, and completed secondments to the Iki City Tourism Federation and Fuji Xerox. Elected as mayor in April 2024, he campaigned on a platform focused on regional revitalization, including the redevelopment of the Gonoura district, the promotion of vacant house renovations, and the expansion of local tourism and agricultural support programs.
