Ján Richter is a Slovak politician who has served as a member of the National Council of the Slovak Republic since 2006. A prominent figure in the Direction – Social Democracy (SMER-SD) party, he previously held the position of Minister of Labour, Social Affairs and Family from 2012 to 2020. Before his career in national politics, Richter worked in technical and management roles in the industrial sector and was active in the Communist Party of Slovakia during the socialist era. He holds a doctorate in law from Matej Bel University in Banská Bystrica.
