A resident of Sioux City, Iowa, Bossman previously worked as a regional director for U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley. He first entered the state legislature after winning a special election in January 2018 to succeed Jim Carlin. Bossman has since secured multiple re-elections, including running unopposed in 2022 and 2024. During the 2024 Republican presidential primaries, he publicly endorsed Nikki Haley.
