Jaimi van Essen

Jaimi van Essen is a Dutch politician currently serving as the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Food Security and Nature, a position he assumed in February 2026. A member of the Democrats 66 (D66) party, he previously served as an alderman in the municipal executive of Deventer starting in 2024 and held a similar role in Losser from 2019 to 2024. Before his career in local government, he worked as an adviser at the Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations. Van Essen holds an academic background in political science and European studies.
