James Ramos is an American politician serving as a member of the California State Assembly, representing the 45th Assembly District. A member of the Yuhaaviatam of San Manuel Nation, he holds the distinction of being the first Native American elected to the California State Assembly and the first Native Californian to serve in the state legislature. Prior to his election to the Assembly in 2018, Ramos served on the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors and as a trustee for the San Bernardino Community College District. His legislative career has focused on tribal advocacy and regional representation.
