Jan Spooren

Jan Spooren is a Belgian politician currently serving as the Governor of Flemish Brabant, a position he has held since 2020. A member of the New Flemish Alliance (N-VA), he previously served as the Mayor of Tervuren and as a member of the Belgian Chamber of Representatives, having been elected in 2014 and re-elected in 2019. Spooren began his political career in the Volksunie party, serving as a municipal councilor starting in 1995. He holds a law degree from KU Leuven and has been a prominent figure in local and national Flemish politics for several decades.
