Jeremy Pelter

Jeremy E. Pelter is an American nonprofit executive and former government official who served in several high-level acting roles within the U.S. Department of Commerce. Most notably, he served as the acting United States Secretary of Commerce from January to February 2025 and as the acting United States Deputy Secretary of Commerce from February to June 2025. A career member of the senior executive service, he held various leadership positions, including acting Under Secretary of Commerce for Industry and Security. He currently serves as the Chief Operating Officer of the Frontier Security Institute, focusing on the intersection of artificial intelligence and national security.
