Born and raised in Dallas, she earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Texas at Arlington and a Juris Doctor from Western Michigan University Cooley Law School. Before her legislative career, she worked as a legislative assistant for Congresswoman Karen Bass and served as the Nevada voter protection director for the Barack Obama 2012 presidential campaign. A practicing attorney, González is a vocal advocate for criminal justice reform, voting rights, and affordable housing. She is also a co-founder of the Texas House LGBTQ Caucus and serves on several committees, including Criminal Jurisprudence and Urban Affairs.
