Joan Lovely is an American attorney and politician serving as a member of the Massachusetts Senate for the 2nd Essex district. A member of the Democratic Party, she represents the communities of Beverly, Peabody, Salem, and Danvers. Before her election to the Senate in 2012, she served on the Salem City Council for fourteen years, including terms as council president. Lovely holds a Juris Doctor from the Massachusetts School of Law and has focused her legislative work on committee leadership, including roles on the Senate Committee on Rules and the Joint Committee on Rules.
